Of His Fullness

THE FULLNESS OF GOD

Colossians 1:15-19 (AMP) He [Jesus] is the exact living image [the essential manifestation] of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn [the preeminent one, the sovereign, and the originator] of all creation. For by Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, [things] visible and invisible . . . . He is also the head [the life-source and leader] of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will occupy the first place [He will stand supreme and be preeminent] in everything. For it pleased the Father for all the fullness [of deity—the sum total of His essence, all His perfection, powers, and attributes] to dwell [permanently] in Him (the Son).

The word “fullness” comes from the Greek word “pléróma” (play’-ro-mah) which means, “a super abundant supply, a supply that fills the gap, repairs the loss, and makes whole.”

Jesus is the picture of God, He holds authority over creation, He guides the church, and supplies everything we need.

John 1:16 (AMP) For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.

Colossians 2:9-10 (AMP) For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature].

YOU LACK NOTHING

Psalms 23:1 (NIV) The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

Psalms 34:9 (NIV) Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.

Luke 22:35 (NIV) Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.

God will supply you with everything you need.

Galatians 5:22-23 (GWT) The spiritual nature produces [supplies without limit] love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness [pistis – faith], gentleness, and self-control.

Just because we possess doesn’t mean we partake.

Proverbs 20:5 (NLT) Good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out.

DRAW IT OUT

John 15:5, 8 (NLT) “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain [abide, wait] in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing . . . . When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

An abundant life is an abiding life. We draw out of God’s presence the faith/joy/wisdom we need for an abundant life.

Ephesians 3:19 (AMP) I pray . . . [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].

. . . be filled with all the fulness [pléróma] of God. – KJV

If you need more joy in your life, you just need more Jesus in your life. Your life would be better if it were lived just a little bit closer to Jesus.
