Small Things Big Difference Part 5
It’s often the small things that no one sees
that result in the big things that everyone wants.
Your attitude comes out of the core of your being. It represents your
disposition, outlook, and determines the character you walk in.
“Weakness of attitude becomes
a weakness of character.” – Albert Einstein
1 Kings 11:11 (NIV) So the Lord said to Solomon, “Since this is
your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my
decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the
kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates.
Personal Negativity. You are negative about yourself. This creates
an attitude that says, “Why try? No one will appreciate me anyway.”
Or, “Nothing is going to change.” This creates the fear of failure.

Relational Negativity. You are negative about your relationships.
This creates an attitude of anger, jealousy, envy. I am not happy
because of the people around me. This creates the fear of loss.

Circumstantial Negativity. You are negative about your
circumstances. If I was married, then I’d be happy. If I had a bigger
house. If I made more money. This creates an attitude that says,
“Life is not fair.” The fear of having no control.

Spiritual Negativity. You are negative about the things of God. My
prayers aren’t being answered. The church only wants your money.
Why should I use my gifts to help other people? This creates an
attitude that says, “I am not loved.” The fear of being unlovable.

YOUR ATTITUDE CAN
- Make or break you.
- Heal or hurt you.
- Make you friends or make you enemies.
- Make you a success or make you a failure.
Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) For the word of God is alive and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to
dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts
and attitudes of the heart.
The majority of the time we feel life stinks, the problem isn’t with
life, it’s with self. We’ve allowed our attitude to become negative.
Daniel 3:19-23 (NIV) Nebuchadnezzar was furious with
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward
them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times
hotter than usual and commanded some of the strongest
soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego
and throw them into the blazing furnace. So these men, wearing
their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and
thrown into the blazing furnace. The king’s command was so
urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed
the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego,
and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
In every one of our lives there is positive and negative. The choice
as to which one we will focus on, feed, and nurture is up to us.
Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV) You were taught . . . to put off your
old self . . . to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to
put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness.
- Anger with love.
- Fear with faith.
- Complaining with praise.
- Bitterness with forgiveness.
- Feeling sorry for yourself with helping someone else.
Psalm 118:24 (NIV) This is the day the LORD has made; let us
rejoice and be glad in it.
