NATURAL MINDED VS. GOD CONSCIOUS
2 Kings 6:1-7 (NCV) The groups of prophets said to Elisha, “The place where we meet with you is too small for us. Let’s go to the Jordan River. There everyone can get a log, and let’s build a place there to live . . . .” When they arrived at the Jordan, they cut down some trees. As one man was cutting down a tree, the head of his ax fell into the water. He yelled, “Oh, my master! I borrowed that ax!” Elisha asked, “Where did it fall?” The man showed him the place. Then Elisha cut down a stick and threw it into the water, and it made the iron head float. Elisha said, “Pick up the axhead.” Then the man reached out and took it.
What is our first response when we encounter a problem?
Romans 12:2 (MSG) Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.
To live in the miracle realm we must bring God into every situation.
Luke 9:12-16 (MSG) As the day declined, the Twelve said, “Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the farms or villages around here and get a room for the night and a bite to eat. We’re out in the middle of nowhere.” “You feed them,” Jesus said. They said, “We couldn’t scrape up more than five loaves of bread and a couple of fish—unless, of course, you want us to go to town ourselves and buy food for everybody.” (There were more than five thousand people in the crowd.) But he went ahead and directed his disciples, “Sit them down in groups of about fifty.” They did what he said, and soon had everyone seated. He took the five loaves and two fish, lifted his face to heaven in prayer, blessed, broke, and gave the bread and fish to the disciples to hand out to the crowd.
BRINGING GOD INTO EVERY SITUATION
John 2:1-5 (MSG) Three days later there was a wedding in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. Jesus and his disciples were guests also. When they started running low on wine at the wedding banquet, Jesus’ mother told him, “They’re just about out of wine.” Jesus said, “Is that any of our business, Mother—yours or mine? This isn’t my time. Don’t push me.” She went ahead anyway, telling the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”
- Whatever God tells you to do, do it.
John 2:6-7 (MSG) Six stoneware water pots were there, used by the Jews for ritual washings. Each held twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus ordered the servants, “Fill the pots with water.” And they filled them to the brim.
- Don’t do it half way. Go all in.
John 2:8 (MSG) “Now fill your pitchers and take them to the host,” Jesus said, and they did.
- Take steps of faith.
John 2:9-10 (MSG) When the host tasted the water that had become wine (he didn’t know what had just happened but the servants, of course, knew), he called out to the bridegroom, “Everybody I know begins with their finest wines and after the guests have had their fill brings in the cheap stuff. But you’ve saved the best till now!”
Mary brought God into this situation. When we bring God into our situations miracles are the result.
WHERE DO YOU NEED A MIRACLE IN YOUR LIFE?
- What does God tell you to do in that area?
- Are you doing it half way?
- Are you taking steps of faith?
Ephesians 5:25-26 (MSG) Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church—a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ’s love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty [He washes her with His words]. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her.
Proverbs 3:9-10 (MSG) Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over.
Proverbs 4:20-22 (NIV) My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.
