Transmitting God’s Healing Power
1 Corinthians 2:4-5 My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
. . . I preached the message. I showed that it was backed up by the Spirit and real power. Why? So that your trust would not depend upon human wisdom, but upon God’s power! – The Plain English Bible
. . . I did this so that God’s power would be the foundation of your faith . . . – LOVETT
A foundation is the most important part of any building. The reason people waiver, fail, or get frustrated with God is normally the result of placing their faith and trust in a wrong foundation. Many people place their faith and trust in their good works or their sense of righteousness (which is equal to placing your faith and trust in yourself). Other people place their faith and trust in the prayers of others, doctors, counselors, their job, and so on. But the Bible tells us to place our faith and trust in God’s power and God’s love.
Colossians 1:4 (AMP) For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus [the leaning of your entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness] . . . .
Listen to Paul’s definition for faith. Faith is placing your absolute trust and confidence in God’s power, wisdom, and goodness (or love). Our faith for healing must rest in God’s love and His healing power. In other words, faith rests in the fact that “God confirms His Word with signs following (Mark 16:20),” “God is alert and active watching over His word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12),” “God’s Word is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12),” “God confirms the word of His servants and performs the counsel of His messengers (Isaiah 44:26),” and that when we speak—mountains move (Mark 11:23)!
The interesting thing about God’s healing power is that it is faith activated. For instance, the woman with the issue of blood heard, “There is power in that man named Jesus!” And she said, “If I may but touch the hem of his garment I shall be made whole.” Jesus was filled with power, but her faith activated that healing power. God’s healing power is faith activated—it starts working as we start believing.
1 Peter 1:5 (AMP) [You] are being guarded [garrisoned, shielded, protected, kept safe] by God’s power through [your] faith . . .
The starting place in receiving from God is trusting in God’s power. Once you believe the power of God is working, it activates, and you start reaping the benefits. In Acts chapter 3 Peter said to a lame man at the gate called Beautiful, “Silver and gold I don’t have with me, but what I do have I give unto you; in the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk!” Peter’s faith was in God’s power. Peter knew God’s healing power was in him. Peter also knew he could transmit that power to others! Like Peter, you have to know God has placed His power within you—and that God’s power is transmittable. When you know it will flow!
John 7:38-39 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Living water is a type of the Holy Spirit or the anointing. According to this verse, out of your belly shall flow rivers of the Holy Spirit’s anointing and power. Say this out loud, “I’m a believer! Out of my spirit flows rivers of living water. Rivers of God’s power flow out of me. I transmit God’s life. I am a divine healing transmitter. I send divine power to those I pray for. I lay hands on the sick and they recover! I believe in God’s healing power!”
How do we transmit God’s healing power?
1. We can transmit God’s healing power through our words. In Matthew chapter 8 the centurion says to Jesus, “Speak the word only and my servant shall be healed.” Jesus gave a command and the servant was healed that same hour. Faith in God’s power caused someone to be healed miles away. There are no limit or boundaries to what absolute trust in God’s power can do. God has given us authority as believers. Like Jesus, our words also carry power.
2. We can transmit God’s healing power through our hands (touch). Mark 16:18 reveals that one of the signs that follow them that believe (or have faith in God’s power) is they will lay hands on the sick and heal them. In other words, their hands will act as booster cables for God’s power. Their will be power in their hands!
Acts 28:8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him.
3. We can transmit God’s healing power through whatever else we transmit it into.
Acts 19:11-12 God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.
God’s power can be stored up in anything we touch. Why did people get healed when handkerchiefs or aprons were laid on them? Because God’s power was stored up in them, the people believed God’s power was in them, and they also believed God’s power would heal them when they touched those handkerchiefs or aprons.
One thing we must understand about God’s healing power is that it is always on! In other words, God is always ready to manifest Himself through you! You are a miracle ready to happen! You are a container of God Power!
CONFESSION: When Jesus spoke about believers, He was talking about ME! I . . . (Mark 16:18) . . . shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover . . . . [I] will lay hands on the sick, and MAKE them well (Moffat translation). God dwells in ME and when I walk, God walks! Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals, lives in ME and works through ME.
Mark 16:17-18 (WADE) . . . By the use of my name [Jesus] . . . they will place their hands upon invalids and they will be restored to health.
I lay hands on the sick and transmit the healing power of God. My hands act as God’s booster cables. I have received the Holy Spirit—the power of God is upon ME. I am a transmitter of God’s divine power.
Colossians 1:27 (NLT) . . . Christ [the anointed one] lives in you [me] . . . .
It’s not my old self, but Christ Himself, who lives in me. The same way Jesus laid His hands on the sick, is the same way I lay my hands on the sick; and transmit God’s healing power. God’s life is working mightily in me.
