My Best Friend Part 2
Three in One
2 Corinthians 13:14 (Message) The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.
The Bible teaches that there is one God who eternally exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is commonly referred to as the Trinity or Godhead. All members of the Godhead are co-equal and co-eternal. They are the perfect example of family: they’re united, they submit to one another, and have different family rolls.
- Every family has the planner. The Father
- Every family has the word. The Son
- Every family has the organizer. The Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 8:6 (Last Days) There is only one God, and that’s the Father, who is the Fountain and Source of all things. It is He who has brought us into existence for His own purposes, plans, and pleasure. And there is only one Lord . . . Jesus Christ. Thru Him God created all things, and it’s also thru Him that we have come into existence.
Romans 11:36 (NKJV) For of Him [the Father] and through Him [the Son] and to Him [the Holy Spirit] are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
Nothing was created without the involvement and agreement of the Godhead (Jn. 1:1-3, Heb. 1:2, Job 33:4).
Genesis 1:1-3 (NIV) In the beginning God [the Planner] created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God [the Organizer] was hovering over the waters. And God [the Word] said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
God has invited you to become a part of His Family.
John 1:12 (NKJV) But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them He [the Father] gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
Connect To God Relationally
To experience the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, you have to understand your position in Christ. We learn how to build a relationship with the Father and the Holy Spirit by looking at Jesus.
John 5:19 (Message) So Jesus explained himself at length. “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing [this Family works together as one], only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing.
John 12:50 (TLB) I know his instructions lead to eternal life; so whatever he tells me to say, I say!”
- We need to depend on the Father for direction.
- We need to speak and act on the Father’s plan.
- We need to trust the Holy Spirit to organize that plan.
The Greek word for Holy Spirit is “Paracletos,” meaning; the One who is called to be by your side forever, to help, assist, comfort, strengthen, teach, encourage, and breath life into.
Psalm 104:29-30 (GNT) When you turn away, they are afraid; when you take away your breath [Spirit], they die and go back to the dust from which they came. But when you give them breath, they are created; you give new life to the earth.
- We need to depend on the Holy Spirit for help.
- We need to allow the Holy Spirit to breath life into us.
- We need to realize that we are a family. And family only works where there is unity and agreement.
Psalm 37:5 (NKJV) Commit your way to the Lord [the Father who loves you], Trust also in Him [the amazing grace of Jesus], And He [your friend the Holy Spirit] shall bring it to pass.
