My Best Friend Part 4

My Best Friend Part 4

Empowered To Live On Mission

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (NLV) There are different kinds of gifts. But it is the same Holy Spirit Who gives them. There are different kinds of work to be done for Him . . . . The Holy Spirit works in each person in one way or another for the good of all.

God’s Gifts

  • Salvation.

Ephesians 2:8 (NIV) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Salvation is a free gift and has nothing to do with your works. The next two gifts, however, empower you for your calling.

Ephesians 2:10 (Expanded Bible) God has made us what we are [For we are his handiwork / workmanship / work of art]. In Christ Jesus, God made [created] us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing.

  • Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:4-5 (NIV) Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

  • Spiritual gifts. A grace gift—a Spirit-empowered service to the Church to carry out God’s plan for His people.

1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT) A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

Understanding Spiritual Gifts

A spiritual gift is a special supernatural ability that God gives to each of His children, so that together we can advance His purposes in this world.

There are 24 spiritual gifts the Bible identifies and defines.

  • Discover the gifts God has for me.

Romans 12:6 (NIV) We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.

We discover our grace gift in the Growth Track.

You are a “10” in some area. There is an area of ministry, that if you find it, you would soar—life would make sense.

  • Develop the gifts God has given me. Gifts change and mature as you change and mature.

2 Timothy 1:6 (NIV) For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God which is in you.

  • Use the gifts God has given me. Once you are saved you have one assignment: to use the gifts God has given you.

1 Peter 4:10 (NLT) God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you.

Strong Faith exists to take me on a spiritual journey to . . .

  • Know God
  • Find Freedom
  • Discover Purpose
  • Make a Difference

until I’m able to say . . . . I was made for this.
