Christ The Healer Part 5: Winners Take A Stand
Ephesians 6:10-18 (CW) Finally, be strong in the Lord and stand in the power of His might. Put on every piece of spiritual armor the Lord has given you so you can stand your ground against the devil’s schemes. We’re not dealing with an enemy here on earth that we can see or get our hands on, but with the darkness of spiritual beings who were once in heaven and are now using their authority and power to try to rule the world. That’s why you must put on the whole armor of God and stand, not giving an inch of ground so when the fighting is over, you’ll still be standing. Therefore, stand! Tighten the belt of truth securely around yourself. Put on the shoes of the good news of Christ’s peace. Take up the shield of faith, trusting in the Lord to stop the flaming arrows which Satan sends your way. Then put on the helment of salvation and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray for the power of the Spirit at every encounter.
Ephesians 6:14-17 (MSG) Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.
We are engaged in a spiritual war and we need to stand with the Lord. If you don’t stand up for something you will fall for everything. Winners take a stand.
HOW DO I STAND?
Philippians 4:1-8 (CSB) My dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown, in this manner stand firm in the Lord, dear friends . . . . 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus . . . . Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things.
Proverbs 4:20-22 (NKJV) My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.
God’s Word is health to your flesh!
The Hebrew word for health is marpe. Marpe is also translated
cure, healing, health, remedy, sound, medicine. God’s Word is medicine and health, a cure, to make us sound and healed!
Psalm 107:20 (KJV) He sent His Word and healed them.
Just like medicine prescribed by a doctor; God’s Word must be
taken internally for it to affect a cure.
You have to put the Word of God in your mouth.
Proverbs 12:18 (KJV) . . . the tongue of the wise is health.
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
In the parable of the sower (Mark 4:14) Jesus tells us the Word of God is seed. You plant God’s seed of healing (His Word) with your mouth. The Word planted will penetrate your spirit. Your spirit will send the Divine Healing Power of God to the part of your body that needs it.
Romans 8:11 (WAY) He who raised the Messiah Jesus from the dead will thrill with a new life your very bodies – those mortal bodies of yours – by the Agency of his own Spirit, which now has its home in you.
As we start speaking the Word of God, the Holy Spirit starts sending healing power.
