Cross to the Throne Part 6: The Ascension of Jesus

  • Step 1: Jesus conquered our emotional conditions.
  • Step 2: Jesus conquered our physical conditions.
  • Step 3: Jesus conquered our spiritual conditions.

When Jesus finished everything necessary for your salvation on Earth, He then secured salvation in Heaven. Jesus becomes your High Priest and applies His blood to Heaven’s Mercy Seat.

Hebrews 4:14 (NIV) Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

In John 20 Mary Magdalene goes to the tomb of Jesus after Jesus’s resurrection. In verse 17 Jesus said . . .

John 20:17 (NIV) Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers  and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father.’

Jesus instructs Mary NOT to touch him. However, a little over a week later Jesus appears to His disciples and says . . .

John 20:26b-27 (NIV) “Peace  be with you!” Then he said to Thomas,  “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

Why couldn’t Mary touch Jesus, but Thomas could? Because Jesus had now secured our eternal redemption.

Hebrews 9:12 (Clear Word) Christ went to heaven, He didn’t have to take the blood of bulls and goats with Him, but [as our new High Priest] entered the Sanctuary once and for all time with His own blood by which He had paid the price for our eternal redemption.

1 Peter 1:4 (TPT) We are reborn into a perfect inheritance that can never perish, never be defiled, and never diminish. It is promised and preserved forever in the heavenly realm for you!

  • What Christ purchased on Earth, He secured in Heaven.
  • God’s gifts are eternal gifts, not temporal gifts.

In Exodus 25-27 God gave specific instructions concerning the tabernacle. Everything in the tabernacle points to Jesus and reveals what He was accomplishing in Heaven for us.

The Brazen Altar — Inheritance of redemption.

The Brazen Altar signified salvation from sin, healing, freedom from the curse, and financial provision.

Hebrews 9:11 (NLT) Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world.

The Laver — Inheritance of righteousness.

The priests cleansed themselves at the Laver.

1 Corinthians 6:11 (NIV) You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

The Candlestick — Inheritance of the Holy Spirit.

The Candlestick symbolized the light of God’s Spirit in our life.

Revelation 4:5 (NLT) In front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit of God.

Isaiah 11:2 (NLT) The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

Table of Shewbread — Inheritance of God’s presence.

The Shewbread revealed God’s desire to fellowship with man.

Revelation 1:6 (NLT) He has made us a Kingdom of priests.

The Altar of Incense — Inheritance of Christ’s authority.

Incense was a symbol of prayer going up to God.

John 16:24 (NKJV) Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

The Mercy Seat (Ark) — Inheritance of Christ’s throne.

The ark was God’s throne among His people, a symbol of His presence and power with them.

Jesus went from the sin and shame of the cross, to a dead man in hell, to the highest seat in the universe—the throne of God—and He took you with Him.

  • YOU were crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20).
  • YOU died with Him (Romans 6:8).
  • YOU were buried with Him (Romans 6:4-5).
  • YOU were made alive with Him (Ephesians 2:5).
  • YOU conquered with Christ (Hebrews 2:14).
  • YOU were raised with Him (Colossians 3:1).
  • YOU are seated with Christ (Ephesians 2:6).

ALL of Jesus’s victories are now YOUR victories and Jesus’ position is now YOUR position.
