Identity & Relationships Part 4: A New Spiritual Species
Colossians 1:12-14 (NKJV) Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and [has] conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
God has, God has, God has, we have! The gospel is the good news of what we HAVE because of what God HAS done in Christ. God has radically altered us in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (RICKARD) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ Jesus (and they are), he is a new (spiritual) species. The old things (position in Adam, spiritual death) have lost their power; behold, new things have come (the portfolio of invisible assets).
So if anyone becomes united with Christ, he is a fresh creation, the original conditions have passed away; mark, they have been replaced by new conditions. – WADE
You need to check in to see what condition your condition is in—because your condition has changed.
Hebrews 4:14 (NKJV) Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Confession in the Greek is, homología, which is derived from homoú, “the same or together” and légō, “to speak to a conclusion, to lay to rest.” So I am to:
- Agree with God.
- Speak God’s Word as the conclusion to my situation.
- Enter into rest. Don’t strive, just listen and obey.
The purpose in God giving us His Word was not to just straighten out our thought life and conduct. It was also given to straighten out our speech!
James 3:2-5 (VOICE) The one who can control his tongue can also control the rest of his body. It’s like when we place a metal bit into a horse’s mouth to ride it; we can control its entire body with the slightest movement of our hands. Have you ever seen a massive ship sailing effortlessly across the water? Despite its immense size and the fact that it is propelled by mighty winds, a small rudder directs the ship in any direction the pilot chooses. It’s just the same with our tongues! It’s a small muscle, capable of marvelous undertakings.
Our speech is controlling our life.
Ephesians 1:3 (KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
. . . who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing that heaven itself enjoys. – NORLIE
2 Peter 1:3 (TPT) Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power.
1 Corinthians 1:30 (NLT) God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.
Philippians 4:13 (AMP) I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].
If you are not impressed with who you are in Christ—you haven’t seen yourself lately!
