Identity Theft Part 2

Identity Theft Part 2

Ephesians 4:17-19, 22-24 (ESV) Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity . . . . 22 [So] put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

YOU ARE SUPERNATURAL

The ultimate identity theft is robbing people of their identity in God. Why? Because a wrong identity will cause wrong decisions. Wrong decisions bring you to a destination God never intended for you to experience. Therefore, all throughout Scripture, God changed people’s destiny by first radically altered their identity!

Exodus 3:9-11 (KJV) Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?

Moses was having an identity crises. Moses saw Himself as an adopted outcast and murderer. He did not know who He was. But, God saw a powerful deliverer!

Exodus 3:12; 4:1 (KJV) 12And He [God] said, Certainly I will be with thee . . . . 4:1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

God gives Moses authority to perform miracles. From this point on Moses’s rod represents God’s power. Moses starts to discover He is not alone, and with God he is supernatural.

Exodus 6:30-7:1 (KJV) And Moses said before the LORD, Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me? 7:1And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Moses was NOT God. Moses was NOT to be worshipped. Yet, God gave Moses the authority, power, and position to operate like God. Moses was God’s ambassador. Moses asks, “Who am I.” God answers, “Son, I made you like Me. You are made in My image and My likeness (Genesis 1:26–27).

Moses still did NOT understand the authority God gave him, until the Red Sea crossing:

Exodus 14:14-16 (NKJV) [Moses says to the people of Israel] “The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up YOUR rod, and stretch out YOUR hand over the sea and [YOU] divide it.”

2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

YOU ARE AN AMBASSADOR FOR CHRIST

Matthew 16:19 (NKJV) And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Having the wrong Identity is the Christian’s kryptonite! You have to see yourself the way God sees you. We do that through God’s Word, Worship, and Prayer.
