Trust God Part 2: Hold On To God’s Word

2 Corinthians 1:8-10 (TLB) I think you ought to know, dear brothers, about the hard time we went through in Asia. We were really crushed and overwhelmed, and feared we would never live through it. We felt we were doomed to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us, for he can even raise the dead. And he did help us and saved us from a terrible death; yes, and we expect him to do it again and again.

John 8:31-32 (NIV) Jesus said, “If you hold to [implement] my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

  • God’s Word must become the foundation of my life.

Matthew 7:24 (NIV) Everyone who hears these words of mine, and puts them into practice, is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

  • God’s Word must become the priority of my life.

Matthew 6:33 (NIV) Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

  1. 5 minutes in the Word.
  2. 5 minutes in Worship.
  3. 5 minutes in Prayer.
  • God’s Word must grow deeper in my life.

James 1:21 (AMP) . . .in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.

Proverbs 3:3 (VOICE) Stay focused; do not lose sight of mercy and truth; engrave them on a pendant, and hang it around your neck; meditate on them so they are written upon your heart.

Proverbs 20:5 (CEB) Advice [Counsel] comes from the deep waters of the heart; those with understanding can draw it out.

Revelation happens as we harmonize our soul with God’s truth. We harmonize our mind, will, and emotions. As we do we draw out the counsel of God from deep within our heart.

Jeremiah 15:16 (KJV) Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart.

Your faith can move mountains; but it won’t move mountains if it can’t move you. God’s Word needs to change you emotionally.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith comes from the Greek word pistis, which means to have a deep conviction or an intuitive certainty. This is what happens when we harmonize our soul to our spirit.

Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh [is awakened or inspired] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Established heart beliefs:

  1. Cause you to see yourself differently.
  2. Cause your thoughts, feelings and emotions to change.
  3. Cause God’s wisdom to become understandable.

Nothing else makes sense but God’s Word.
