It Is Written Part 2

It Is Written Part 2

John 1:1-5 (NIV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

In order to get to know God, you have to get to know your Bible.

  • Find a Bible translation that is easy for you to read.
  • Look at the life of Jesus [Matthew, Mark, Luke, John].

John 1:14 (NIV) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

1 John 1:1 (NLT) We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.

One of the greatest things we can do to understand the Bible is look at the life of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

John 6:63 (NIV) The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

I want the Bible to come alive to you. But, in order for the Bible to come alive it must be mixed with faith.

  • Faith activates the Word. Faith makes the Bible come to life.

Hebrews 4:2 (NIV) For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.

  • Revelation activates faith. If you want your faith to come alive, you need a few aha moments.

Luke 1:34-38 (NIV) “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God . . . For no word [rhema] from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

  • Meditation activates revelation. Ponder God’s Word. Talk it out.

Joshua 1:7-8 (NIV) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Matthew 7:24 (MSG) These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock.

Winds are coming. My goal is to help you build your life in such a way that when it comes you don’t fall.

1.  I must accept its authority. The Bible is the perfect Word
of God. The Bible is not the words of men, it is the words of God.

2.  I must assimilate its truths. I have to work it into all the
areas of my life. But how?

  • By listening to God’s Word.

Leviticus 26:2 (NIV) Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  • By reading God’s Word.
  • By exploring God’s Word.

Psalm 119:11 (NIV) I have hidden Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
